曹谐和，法名广智，字声五，江南上元人，业染绛于苏，家焉。道光七年秋，延夏文荣视其妻病，文荣教以净土法门，从之。既而疑焉，谓文荣曰，人说君以念佛诳人，何故。文荣曰，诱人以惑业，受苦果，轮转三途，是流落他乡也，谓之诳可。劝人以戒定慧，往生极乐，究竟菩提，乃劝人归家也，何诳焉。谐和言下有省，问如何可以归家。曰，持戒为基，作福为助，执持名号，到一心不乱，是归家消息也。遂欣跃而去。既归依杯渡海公。明春，受五戒于灵鹫义公。一夕，忽梦黑山在前，欲上，而溪水隔之，有红日西沈之象，遂醒。悟尘缘将尽，功益进。家资三千金，不数年而布施罄矣。十四年四月，以资罄辍业归。先是谐和劝母修净业，母以其无子，命之纳妾，谓母曰，愿母同生净土足矣，五浊多造业事，嗣续可不计也。既而奉母还乡，未几，其母念佛而逝。是年六月，谐和示疾，越六日，亦念佛安坐而逝。其女见之，发深信心，念佛四十九日，吉祥坐脱。（西归见闻录）评曰，百日之内，亡其三人，在世俗岂无物议。而一门眷属，同托莲胎，实堪庆幸。此诚可为知者道。
