| 竞争 competition 同种或异种个体间为了争夺共同资源而相互施加不利影响的现象。竞争主要发生在共同资源有限的情况下，例如一方对食物或配偶的需求得到满足，使另一方饥饿或得不到机会传种接代。也有时资源并不缺乏，但双方仍互相施加不利影响，如两个植株都释放抑制对方生长的交互作用剂。为了区分起见，称前者为掠夺式竞争，称后者为干扰式竞争。自从G.R.达尔文发表进化学说以来，人们越来越认识到竞争在生物进化上的意义。同种间竞争的结果是优存劣汰，这使种群得以保持在与资源适应的范围内而不至降低生活质量。异种生物在有限的共同资源面前是不会长期共处的，这称为竞争排除原理。其结果或是一方失败，或是改变了对资源的需求，也即双方选取不同的资源，称为生态位的分化。
