传译者，谓西天传至东土，译彼梵语，成此华言也。盖此经前后凡二译。一晋义熙十四年，北天竺僧佛度跋陀罗，于扬州谢司空寺，译梵本为三万六千偈，成六十卷。一唐证圣元年，于阗国僧实叉难陀，于东都佛授记寺，再译旧文，兼补诸阙，增益九千偈，共前四万五千偈，成八十卷。即今流传者是也。感通者，佛度跋陀罗译经之时，感龙王遣二青衣童子，每日从池而出，以给瓶砚之水。实叉难陀译经之时，感天降甘露，征应良多，备载传记也。（梵语佛度跋陀罗，华言觉贤。梵语实叉难陀，华言喜学也。）
