甲基锡热稳定剂（简称181）是当今性能最优秀的塑料热稳定剂，对硬质聚氯乙稀（pvc）的压延、挤塑、注塑和吹塑成形都非常有效。又由于它安全性高，所以特别适用于食品包装和高清晰度的硬质聚氯乙烯制品（如透明片材、板材、热收缩膜等），同时，它也被普遍应用于塑料门窗、上水管道、装饰材料中，以取代其它高毒性的塑料热稳定剂。它在美国、欧洲、日本得到了广泛的应用。近几年，181甲基锡热稳定剂在我国开始大量应用。由于其热稳定性能大大优于其它有机锡热稳定剂，且赋予制品更优异的性能，该产品受到了许多大型聚氯乙烯加工企业的欢迎，成为硬质聚氯乙烯加工中不可或缺的关键助剂。
甲基锡稳定剂是聚氯乙烯 (pvc) 热加工过程中的高效稳定剂，其稳定性、透明性、兼容性、耐候性均优于其它有机锡热稳定剂。在 pvc 片材、板材、管材和吹塑注塑制品加工中得到广泛应用，可用于食品包装和医药包装及无毒无害用的 pvc 制品之中。 在国外，凡卫生要求较高的各种食品、医药包装和贮存、输送饮用水的管材、容器等 pvc 制品，均已采用甲基锡作稳定剂。其制品色泽纯净，气味极小，消失迅速，安全性能可靠。在同样效果下，甲基锡的用量比同类有机锡稳定剂减少 15-20%
