IAs a newly-built administering port city of the coastal area in Guangxi,Fengchenggang city s present urbanization is limited at the polarization of city development,the city spatial layouts of whose port and Fengcheng area have their own obvious characteristics of eastern density and western rarity,strong spatial difference of development and weak advantages of the frontier-city.

In this article, through analyzing the characteristics of urban spatial distribution of Jiangsu coastal region, it is pointed out that the inconsequence of urban spatial distribution is the main reason for restricting economy developing of coastal region.

Optimizing urban spatial distribution is very importanf for speeding up urbanization and raising level of urbanization.
