The Function-Stakeholders-Goals model,intended to explain the various probabilities of status of a media organization in society,is provided here as a basis for analysis.

Study on the performance evaluation of Chinese media organization is particular due to the organization’s three attributes: politics, public welfare and industry.

The paper focuses on this issue from the gatekeeping theory and advises the schools of journalism and communication to enforce general education,to maintain close ties with media organization,to provide more internship opportunities to students,and to actively train students in media organization concepts and other media policies.

Based on the studies of the psychological traits and working characteristics of journalists, basic concepts of performance management, as well as the results of academic researches, this paper analyzes the status and problems of performance management of journalists by China\'s media organizations, according to the research ideas of "raising problems, analyzing problems, solving problems".

Our media organizations should not only deal with competition from domestic counterparts, but also deal with competition from foreign competitors for its own survival and development.
