科学实验中往往需要分成几组互相对比，对照组是实验设计中的重要内容，它与实验组之间除了处理不同以外，其他条件尽量相同，即保持实验条件的均衡性，或齐同条件对比的原则。应做到非实验因素与实验组完全相同。在临床实验中要求：①疾病诊断必须准确可靠；②患者年龄、性别、病情轻重的构成要求一致；③观察指标、观察方法、使用仪器，测量工作人员均要求一致和固定；④在治疗过程中对照组与处理组都应避免产生心理上的偏性，以免影响治疗效果。实验研究根据具体内容，选择不同的对照形式，大体上有：①空白对照；②标准对照；③实验对照；④相互对照等。
