刺激错误(stimulus error)构造主义学派的用语。它专指在内省观察中，观察者报告了关于刺激的情况或知识而不报告关于刺激的主观体验。例如，让被试观察一朵花，并报告说“这是一朵红花”。在构造主义学派看来，这种报告意味着人们关心的主要是花，而不是正在体验着“红”这一意识内容，这就犯了刺激错误。构造主义学派认为，心理学的研究对象是直接经验而不是间接经验。直接经验是经验的本身，而间接经验只是向人们提供关于某种东西的情况或知识，因而间接经验不是经验本身。在上例中惟有报告对“红”的体验，才是直接经验。 (金志成撰林仲贤审)
