古歌今，原名刘发俊，甘肃临洮人。中共党员。1948年毕业于甘肃省临洮高级农校。1949年参加解放军，任第一野战军第一兵团军政干部学校学员，二军教导团维语学员，1952年转业后历任南疆区党委宣传部干部，新疆自治区党委办公厅、宣传部干部，新疆作家协会民间文学组组长，新疆民间文艺家协会副主席，译审。新疆文联第三届委员，中国民间文艺家协会第四届理事，新疆《玛纳斯》编委会委员、副主任，中国《玛纳斯》研究会副会长。曾获国家文化部、国家民委《玛纳斯》突出贡献奖、全国民族团结先进个人。1957年开始发表作品。1990年加入中国作家协会。
