信息技术的发展引起的革命使我们进入了信息时代。信息革命不仅引起人们的思想观念、生活方式的变化，而且导致了生产方式和制造哲理的巨大变化，可以说近十年来提出的新的制造哲理都离不开信息技术提供的支撑，以信息化制造技术为代表的先进制造技术正使制造业处于重要的历史性变革时期。多年来，我国的综合国力不断增强，入关在即，市场竞争十分激烈，国内市场已从卖方市场转化为买方市场，而且正在迅速成为国际市场的一部分，许多大中型企业在竞争中处于不利地位，甚至破产、倒闭。本文结合我国国情，通过分析现代集成制造系统与先进制造技术的关系，论述了我国现代集成制造系统的技术构成和发展策略及途径，希望为我国制造业的发展做些有益的探索。
现代集成制造系统的含义与定位
现代集成制造系统（Contemporary Integrated Manufacturing System）是计算机集成制造系统新的发展阶段，在继承计算机集成制造系统优秀成果的基础上，它不断吸收先进制造技术中的相关思想的精华，从信息集成、过程集成向企业集成方向迅速发展，在先进制造技术中处于核心地位。具体地说，它将传统的制造技术与现代信息技术、管理技术、自动化技术、系统工程技术进行有机的结合，通过计算机技术使企业产品在全生命周期中有关的组织、经营、管理和技术有机集成和优化运行，在企业产品全生命周期中实现信息化、智能化、集成优化，达到产品上市快、服务好、质量优、成本低的目的，进而提高企业的柔性、健壮性和敏捷性，使企业在激烈的市场竞争中立于不败之地。从集成的角度看，早期的计算机集成制造系统侧重于信息集成，而现代集成制造系统的集成概念在广度和深度上都有了极大的扩展，除了信息集成外还实现了企业产品全生命周期中的各种业务过程的整体优化，即过程集成，并发展到企业优势互补的企业之间的集成阶段。 现代集成制造系统的研究范围应该介于国家攀登计划和国家攻关计划之间。与攀登计划研究项目相比较，它更注重成果的应用性，尽可能将技术产业化，并推动我国制造业的现代化进程；与国家攻关计划相比较，它更注重解决我国制造业发展中的关键的共性问题、前瞻性问题和示范性问题。
