东南亚也有一种鳄外表很像印度鳄，它们划归鳄科。
印度鳄的繁殖方式和普通鳄相同，也是在岸上由雌鳄挖洞生蛋孵小鳄，雌鳄也会忠诚地担负起看守窝和蛋的义务。
印度鳄数量稀少，已处于濒危状态。
