带磁导电流体中的湍流。当与磁场垂直方向的流体运动不足以克服磁场的张力时,只在平行于磁场的流体中才有湍流发生。只有流体运动的平均动能密度与磁能密度量级相同时,各向同性的磁流体力学湍流才能发展。流体的动能和磁能在磁流体力学湍流的最后阶段,以粘滞和焦耳损耗方式转变为分子热能。这和无碰撞等离子体不同,后者在其发展和衰变阶段,可由粒子-波、波-波的交互作用(见等离子体天体物理学),经过被加速粒子的逃逸和电磁波的辐射把能量散出。湍流的存在,使带磁导电流体的平均运动增加了动态摩擦的因素。充分发展的磁流体力学湍流所产生的动态摩擦,远远大于分子热运动所引起的粘滞效应。天体物理观测证明,磁流体力学湍流是普遍存在的。例如,太阳对流层、致密星的吸积盘、星系中的气盘、超新星遗迹所代表的激波波阵面后的区域、太阳风等,都有磁流体力学湍流发生。
