处于超导态的厚壁多连通超导体，若原先空腔中无磁场存在，在外加小于临界磁场的磁场后，由于有产生逆磁的屏蔽环电流而磁场不能进入腔内，起到磁场屏蔽的作用，称超导磁屏蔽。例如对空心超导圆柱体，则磁场不能进入圆柱空腔，况且，即使圆柱壁厚d≤λL，只要内半径`r\gt\gt\lambda_L`，也可起到屏蔽磁场进入空腔的作用。这里λL是伦敦穿透深度。
