锅炉由于压力高采用此钢种时壁厚过大，造成加工和运行困难并经济上不合理时，才换成具有更高温度等级的钢。如对同一温度参数的主燕汽管道用含9写Cr的马氏体耐热钢loCrgMo1VNb(Pgl)代替含2.25%Cr的珠光体耐热钢12CrzMoG(P 22)，约可减少一半壁厚，用15NicuMoNbs(德国钢号)代替碳素钢作大机组主给水管道则也达到了同一效果。各管子用钢的适用温度范围如表所示。
