委内瑞拉电影导演、剧作家。最初从事戏剧演员和导演工作。1953年，作为墨西哥导演V.乌鲁楚亚的助手参加了《荒原之光》一片的拍摄工作。1959年执导了第一部长片《犯罪青年》，取得了较好的票房收入。1963年,拍摄出《大人的故事》之后,确立了他在委内瑞拉电影界的地位。1974年他执导的《焚烧犹大》，参加了不少国际电影节，引起了国际影坛的注意。其他代表作有《圣人与俗人》、《会抽烟的鱼》、《天使们》、《螃蟹》等。1983年由他执导、委内瑞拉与阿根廷合拍的《暗无天日》再次获得国际影坛好评。
