即肺动脉主干。它在胸骨与左第3肋软骨结合处起自右心室。在主动脉起始部的前方上升，然后转向右后方，在动脉弓之下，平第4胸椎体处，分为左、右肺动脉。左肺动脉较短，在左支气管前方横行入肺，分为两支进入左肺上、下叶。右肺动脉较长，横行向右，在升主动脉和上腔静脉后方分为三支，进入右肺上、中、下三叶。肺动脉及其分支把含二氧化碳高的血液运至肺毛细血管网进行气体交换。
