把催化剂（如磺化银、介乙醛）、炸药送入云层分别播撒、爆炸，达到消雹降雨目的的火箭。它是人类改造自然环境的一种工具。防雹火箭飞行的顶点高度一般在3～8公里。对防雹火箭的要求主要是发射安全、易于制造、使用方便、固体推进剂原料来源丰富、加工成形容易、成本低廉、生产安全。防雹火箭的壳体一般用纸或塑料制造,固体推进剂大多采用易于制取的黑火药,有的采用性能较好的复合药。中国农村在同雹害斗争中使用了防雹火箭,型号较多。有代表性的是"支农"1号消雹降雨火箭。火箭长800毫米，直径65毫米,总重3.15公斤，使用的推进剂是聚氯乙烯复合药。
