1948年10月成立于沈阳,班主任陈锦清,主要教员有吴晓邦、盛婕等。曾聘请朝鲜舞蹈家姜玉彩任教。其主要任务是培养舞蹈演员。学员大多来自各文艺团体的青年演员及业余舞蹈爱好者。舞蹈班设有中国传统戏曲舞蹈、中国民间舞蹈、芭蕾、外国民间舞蹈和现代舞等课程。另外还设有律动课和即兴模仿课。舞蹈班创作了许多短小的舞蹈节目，如《农作舞》、《锻工舞》、《单鼓舞》等。通过理论学习、形体训练及舞台实践，使学员们具备了一定的舞蹈表演技能。1951年底，舞蹈班并入东北人民艺术剧院音乐舞蹈团舞蹈队。舞蹈班培养了近50名舞蹈演员，许多人后来成为中国舞蹈事业的骨干力量。
