The author of the essay did a survey for the extracurricular-reading so as to know the general situation of the time allocation,methods,choice of reading material,and purpose of reading among minority middle school students,providing some suggestions for those students to read more effectively.
笔者通过对少数民族中学生汉语课外阅读情况的调查,初步了解了他们在课外阅读时间、阅读方法、阅读目的及课外阅读材料的选择等方面的情况,并就如何开展课外阅读提出了相应对策。

指多民族国家内人口居于少数的民族，也有指外来移民的。在中国，有蒙古、回、藏、维吾尔、苗、彝、壮、布依、朝鲜、满、侗、瑶、白、土家、哈尼、哈萨克、傣、黎、傈僳、佤、畲、高山、拉祜、水、东乡、纳西、景颇、柯尔克孜、土、达斡尔、仫佬、羌、布朗、撒拉、毛南、仡佬、锡伯、阿昌、普米、塔吉克、怒、乌孜别克、俄罗斯、鄂温克、德昂、保安、裕固、京、塔塔尔、独龙、鄂伦春、赫哲、门巴、珞巴、基诺等55个少数民族，人口约9132万(1990年)，占全国总人口8%。分布呈大杂居、小聚居格局。多有本民族语言文字，部分通用汉语文。宗教和自然崇拜有广泛深刻的影响。社会发展较汉族缓慢，经济比较落后，且发展不平衡。多从事农牧、渔猎生产。解放后，通过民主改革，实行民族区域自治，实现了各民族之间的团结平等。各少数民族与汉族一起走上社会主义现代化建设的道路。
