昭乌达盟
“昭”，蒙古语中有丘陵、庙宇、百数之意，这里是泛指复数而言。“乌达”即蒙古语柳树，昭乌达地方盛产柳树，周围草场肥美，芦荻丛生，灌木成荫，水流纵横，是一望无际的大草原。清代内札萨克会盟，原定敖汉一旗（后分两旗：左翼旗，即札萨克王旗；右翼旗即海楞王旗）；巴林二旗：左翼旗（即小巴林旗又称巴林贝子旗）、右翼旗（大巴林旗，又称巴林王旗）；翁牛特旗二旗：左翼旗（东翁牛特旗）、右翼旗（西翁牛特旗）；札鲁特二旗：左翼旗、右翼旗；阿鲁科尔沁一旗；喀尔喀左翼一旗；奈曼一旗；克什克腾一旗，共十一旗于昭乌达地方会盟，故称昭乌达盟。
