嘉陵江源头风景区位于陕西宝鸡市南郊、川陕公路三十三公里处的秦岭之巅。属天台山国家森林公园四大风景区之一，总面积三千六百公顷，著名的嘉陵江发源于景区内海拔二千八百多米的嘉陵谷中。
秦岭是中国南北气候的分界线，亦是长江、黄河水系的分水岭。景区内景点40多处，奇峰突兀，水流清澈，森林茂密，四季景色迷人。七女峰苍翠秀丽，济公石、飞来石惟妙惟肖，飞云瀑、黑龙潭气势雄伟……自然景观，神工天成，美不胜收。
景区内亦有大量的人文古迹。有汉高祖刘邦入关时的煎茶坪，诸葛亮北上伐魏时的点将台，宋朝吴介兄弟抗击金兵的和尚愿古战场，代王岭等。
景区处于秦岭主粱南坡海拔1500--2800多米的中高山区，森林气候凉爽湿润，空气清新，水质甘纯，年平均气温15度，夏季最高温度32度，是避暑、度假的理想境地。目前已建成一批独具风格，自然纯朴的度假木屋及商店、餐厅等服务设施，自一九九三年五
月开放以来，源头景区以其大自然独有的温馨及无穷的魅力，吸引着来自各地的游客，成为人们旅游、观光、避暑、度假的胜地。
