Based on the summary of the development of prediction methods of short-time traffic flow, this paper points out the limitation of the existing prediction methods, proposes a prediction method of short-time traffic flow which combines the multiple forecasting models with artificial intelligent technology, and discusses its fundamental principle.

By comparing with analysis of short-time traffic flow prediction model,this paper analyzes and expatiates the principle for BP neutral network prediction algorithm,establishes short-time prediction model by means of BP neural network,and verifies the feasibility of model by use of measured traffic flow data from South China expressway.
