【来源】
为百合科植物短柄菝葜的根茎。
【植物形态】
短柄菝葜 落叶攀援灌木。地下茎块状，茎疏生小倒钩刺或无刺。叶革质，互生，狭卵形或卵状椭圆形，长3～7厘米，宽1.5～3厘米，先端短尖，基部圆形或微心形，基出脉5条；叶柄鞘状，红褐色；托叶呈阔垂耳形。伞形花序腋生，总花梗着生小花2朵；花被裂片6，分离。浆果球形，蓝黑色。花期5月。 生于向阳山坡。分布贵州、四川、云南、湖北、陕西等地。 本植物的根茎，在陕西地区有时作萆薢使用。
【采集】
夏、秋采收。
【性味】
淡微涩，平。
【功用主治】
清热利湿，补虚益损，活血止血。
【选方】
①治痨弱干瘦：土茯苓、饿蚂蟥根各一两，阎王树根五分。炖鸡或炖鳖一个吃。 ②治风湿：土茯苓、海金沙根各五钱，龙须草五分，铁筷子三分，松树根三钱，泡酒服。 ③治血崩：土茯苓、大夜关门、算盘子根。朱砂莲根各五钱，煨水服。
