描述字段:小乔木至乔木,高4—12米;幼枝密被红锈色星状毛,老枝黑褐色,稍被糠秕状鳞片。叶厚革质,椭圆形、长圆形至倒卵状长圆形,长4—14厘米,宽2—5.5厘米,先端锐尖至短渐尖,基部圆形,三出脉高基部2—3毫米,侧脉2—3对,表面绿色,略有光泽,中肋与侧脉被星状毛,网脉极细,略下陷,背面橄揽绿色,疏被星状鳞片,中肋与侧脉略下陷,下部侧脉脉腋有阻显窝穴,网脉不显,全缘或偶有1—3枚不明显小齿突;叶柄长6—13毫米,密被星状鳞片。短穗状花序似头状,顶生及腋生,长约1.5厘米,有花10—12朵;总苞2—4枚,卵形,长5—6毫米,密被黑色星毛;苞片阔卵形,长6—8毫米,密被褐色绒毛;花序柄长3—5毫米。雄花或两性花无柄,萼筒壶形,长1.5毫米,被鳞片;萼齿卵形;雄蕊8—10枚,花丝长8—10毫米,花药长3毫米,药隔突出;子房被毛,花柱长1.5毫米,稍弯曲,被毛。果序近头状,蒴果长1.2厘米,被星状绒毛及长硬刺毛;宿存萼筒长约2毫米,被鳞片,不规则开裂,宿存花柱长4—5毫米,被星状毛。花期4月。
分布及生境:产彝良、大关,海拔1900—2500米的常绿阔叶林中,属第一、二层乔木。常见。最先采自我国四川屏山。
