Stoppage in transit by sea, (for short, this thesis calls it " stoppage in transit" below) was firstly provided in the laws of the countries of the Common Law System.
海运中途停运权(以下简称中途停运权)是指未取得货款的卖方将货物交付给承运人以后，在买方无力支付货款时，卖方指示承运人或其他货物保管人停止运输尚处于海上运输途中的货物的法律制度。
